Lagoon Kitchen: A Fusion of Hellenistic Artistry, Nature, and Technological Innovation

Lagoon, designed by Yilmaz Dogan and the QZENS Design Team, stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of ancient Greek architectural elegance and contemporary kitchen innovation. Drawing inspiration from the blue-green waves of the Aegean Sea and the timeless beauty of Greek temples, Lagoon transforms the kitchen into a mythological sanctuary, where nature, light, and history converge. The project began in July 2022, with research at archaeological sites in the Aegean region, and culminated in its completion in Ankara in November 2023.

Distinguished by its Hellenistic-style carvings, bronze accents, and oxidized copper cabinet doors, Lagoon offers a unique sensory experience. The island unit, crafted from natural solid wood, white lacquered wood, and Volakas marble from Greece, features varying heights to accommodate diverse kitchen activities, from meal preparation to social gatherings. Artisanal craftsmanship is evident in the hand-finished wooden sculptures and intricate carvings, produced through a combination of CNC technology and traditional handcraft techniques. Bronze legs and glass-fronted cabinets further enhance the luxurious aesthetic, while the countertop cabinets showcase doors treated with a special copper oxidation process.

Lagoon's innovative features set it apart in the world of kitchen design. The kitchen incorporates advanced technologies such as single-finger door systems, Servotronic automatic drawers, and an interior cabinet system with an automatic lift that brings upper cabinet items to counter level. A lift-up extractor hood rises seamlessly from the countertop, preserving open space and aesthetics. The soft-on, fade-to-black lighting system and integrated hidden handles ensure both functionality and elegance, while independent cooking units and varying island heights elevate meal preparation into an art form. Lagoon's design not only pays homage to Greek mythology and architecture but also delivers a luxurious, intuitive, and contemporary kitchen experience.
