Misterio, the latest lighting collection by renowned designer Alexey Danilin, has captivated the design world by securing the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2025. Drawing inspiration from the ethereal Northern Lights, Misterio reimagines luminaires as magical portals that fill spaces with vibrant, shifting colors and an enchanting atmosphere. The collection, which debuted at Interlight 2024 in Moscow, stands out for its innovative use of multi-colored cast glass and a distinctive ring-shaped LED element that creates soft, picturesque light ornaments on surrounding surfaces.
Each Misterio luminaire is meticulously crafted from cast glass, shaped to evoke the fluidity of sea waves frozen in time. The glass features a multicolor effect, producing organic patterns and vivid highlights that dance across walls and ceilings. The inward-facing LED ring, housed in a sleek black metal base, is equipped with a matte diffuser to ensure gentle, ambient illumination. This thoughtful design not only emphasizes the beauty of the glass but also delivers a significant luminous flux, making Misterio suitable for main, accent, or task lighting in a variety of interior settings.
The development of Misterio involved extensive research and technical innovation, particularly in glassworking techniques and light diffusion. The challenge of creating seamless, complex wave shapes in glass was overcome by assembling two halves with a central metal ring, which also houses the LED tape. This approach allowed for both structural integrity and optimal light distribution. The collection includes pendant and wall lamp models, each offering dimmable, energy-efficient performance with a warm color temperature of 2700K and a wide 120° light scattering angle. The result is a harmonious blend of art, technology, and nature, transforming everyday spaces into immersive experiences reminiscent of the awe-inspiring aurora borealis.
