FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Phoenix Kanri, designed by GOOD PLACE, is a transformative office interior located in Tokyo, Japan, created for a company whose name embodies the spirit of resilience and renewal. Drawing inspiration from the phoenix-a mythical bird known for rising from its ashes-the design integrates motifs of feathers and airflow, symbolizing forward movement and continual rebirth. The project was initiated in October 2022, with design and construction phases spanning until June 2024, in response to the client's expanding workforce and evolving business needs.
The office features a thoughtfully zoned layout, including dedicated meeting rooms, VIP areas, and a flexible co-working space capable of hosting events and gatherings. Natural materials such as stone and wood are used throughout, reflecting the client's roots in real estate and construction. Notable design elements include a handrail crafted from three layers of laminated glass, which creates a striking depth effect and casts feather-like shadows, and a hallway installation that immerses visitors in an oceanic atmosphere through mirrored ceilings and dynamic lighting.
The design process was driven by extensive research and close collaboration with the client, utilizing interviews and usage pattern analysis to ensure the space would increase productivity and offer exceptional hospitality. Challenges such as unifying the phoenix wing ceiling motif and optimizing lighting were addressed through numerous mockups and technical refinements. The result is an office that not only meets but exceeds expectations, providing an environment that feels both inspiring and welcoming, and earning recognition with a prestigious Silver A' Design Award for its creativity, technical excellence, and innovative approach to workplace design.
