Discover the Inspiration, Unique Features, and Realization Technology Behind This Customized Lighting Series
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Linear Refraction series, designed by artist Ray Teng Pai, draws inspiration from the captivating phenomenon of rainbows. The Floor Light, a part of this series, features a round glass board that projects colorful shadows, enriching any indoor environment. The ability to rotate the glass board 360 degrees allows users to create a spectrum of shades, adding a touch of artistry to any space.
Customized for Hotel 35 in Lishui, the first design hotel in China to merge art village and tourism, the Linear Refraction series creates a contemporary composition of geometry in hotel rooms, responding to the theme of photography and art. This unique lighting series aims to explore the relationship between time, space, and person, offering a visually stunning and functional addition to the hotel's ambiance.
The floor lamp is crafted using materials from Taiwan, including aluminum alloy for the light base and post, and patterned glass commonly used in architecture. The 400mm x 400mm x 1500mm dimensions and foot switch make it a practical yet visually striking addition to any space.
Ray Teng Pai, along with Shu Ching Wu, overcame various creative and technical challenges to bring the Linear Refraction series to life, pushing the boundaries of manufacturing art and merging sensibility with rationality to realize practical value. The result is a design that not only showcases originality and artistry but also seamlessly integrates traditional craft with a unique conceptual approach, emphasizing the aesthetic value of light and shadow.
Ray Teng Pai, a multidisciplinary designer from Taipei, Taiwan, has been recognized for his exceptional work, with the Linear Refraction series winning the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021. This award highlights the outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence demonstrated by the Linear Refraction series, showcasing its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill.
