Travis Baldwin's Scramblefactor Wins Iron A' Design Award for Innovative Biometric Access Control

GREAT BRITAIN -- /INNOVATION/newswire -- Sep 04, 2024

Travis Baldwin's Scramblefactor, a next-generation biometric access control device inspired by sci-fi aesthetics and advanced security needs, has received the Iron A' Design Award 2025 for its multifactor authentication, sleek design, and field-serviceable construction, marking a significant step forward in secure entry technology.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Scramblefactor: Award-Winning Multifactor Biometric Access Control Device Blending Security and Design

Scramblefactor, designed by Travis Baldwin and his team, has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award 2025 in the Security, Safety, and Surveillance Products category. Developed between 2021 and 2023 and now in production, Scramblefactor reimagines access control by combining a ruggedized touchscreen, fingerprint reader, and card scanner into a single, elegant device. Its modern design draws inspiration from high-tech security solutions and sci-fi films, while evolving the established Identiv brand language for a new era of secure environments.

Unlike traditional keypads, Scramblefactor uses a dynamic touchscreen that scrambles the numeric keypad layout with each use, preventing pattern recognition and enhancing PIN security. The device supports three identification methods-touchscreen PIN entry, fingerprint scan, and card reading-delivering robust multifactor authentication. The modular front bezel allows for configuration flexibility, enabling the inclusion or exclusion of biometric and card reading features to suit varied security needs. Its IP65-rated sealing, easy-to-clean surface, and field-serviceable components ensure durability and low maintenance in demanding settings.

Designed for seamless integration into existing infrastructures, Scramblefactor's injection-molded front bezel can be paired with multiple rear housing options, including sheet metal and plastic enclosures, and mounts easily to standard wall boxes. The product's development involved extensive prototyping and ergonomic testing to ensure user comfort, intuitive operation, and a professional appearance that blends into high-security environments. The award recognizes Scramblefactor's innovative approach to access control, its technical excellence, and its contribution to safer, more secure spaces worldwide.
