CHINA -- /INNOVATION/newswire -- Oct 20, 2024

Menghai Xia and the FFBA design team have unveiled Nostalx, a retro-style Bluetooth speaker that merges tactile controls and multi-band radio with modern audio technology, earning the Bronze A' Digital and Electronic Device Design Award 2025 for its unique blend of nostalgia, sensory engagement, and lifestyle appeal, developed in Savannah, Georgia.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nostalx: A Sensory-Driven Retro Bluetooth Speaker Redefining Modern Music Experiences

Nostalx, designed by Menghai Xia and the FFBA team, is a Bluetooth speaker that reimagines the music player as a lifestyle product, blending vintage aesthetics with modern convenience. Developed in Savannah, Georgia, between September and November 2023, Nostalx responds to a growing consumer desire for tangible, sensory-rich experiences in a world increasingly dominated by digital interfaces. The speaker's design draws inspiration from the resurgence of physical music formats like vinyl, aiming to restore the ritual and value of music listening through tactile interaction and high-quality sound.

Unlike standard digital devices, Nostalx features a multi-band radio, tactile knobs, and physical buttons, encouraging users to engage with their music through touch, sight, and sound. The left knob tunes radio channels, while the right adjusts volume and powers the device. Three buttons control playback, and a multi-position switch toggles between Bluetooth, FM, AM, and SW modes. The shell is customizable, available in colored plastic, wood, or frosted acrylic, allowing users to express their personal style. This hands-on approach transforms listening from a passive act into an immersive, interactive ritual.

The development of Nostalx involved overcoming significant design and engineering challenges, particularly in integrating an intuitive interface without digital displays, and ensuring seamless interaction between form and function. The FFBA team collaborated closely with engineers to refine the controls and circuitry, resulting in a product that is both visually striking and technically robust. The speaker's 537g weight and compact dimensions (200mm x 130mm x 53mm) make it suitable for a variety of spaces, while its rechargeable battery and advanced audio components deliver a premium listening experience. Nostalx's recognition with the Bronze A' Design Award underscores its innovative approach to merging nostalgia, sensory engagement, and modern technology in a single, award-winning product.
