Color Roller: Modular Acrylic Furniture Set Redefines Color and Geometry in Interior Design

Color Roller, designed by Chuheng He in Shanghai, has been recognized with the Golden A' Furniture Design Award 2025 for its groundbreaking approach to furniture design. Inspired by De Stijl's use of primary colors and geometric abstraction, Color Roller reimagines the interplay of color, form, and function through a set of three modular pieces-a hexagonal chair, a rectangular table, and a triangular floor lamp. Each piece is constructed from intersecting transparent acrylic panels in red, yellow, and blue, which overlap to create a vibrant spectrum of hues that shift with light and movement.

The innovative design allows users to roll, flip, and rearrange the furniture, changing the color combinations and spatial dynamics of their environment. This interactive feature encourages creativity and personalization, transforming everyday interiors into ever-evolving artistic spaces. The furniture set's minimalist construction uses thermoformed and bonded acrylic, resulting in lightweight yet sturdy structures that emphasize both visual impact and functional integrity.
