Gala: Award-Winning Porcelain and Brass Decorative Lighting Collection Inspired by the Rose

Gala, the newest lighting collection from acclaimed Turkish designer H. Guliz Tavukcuoglu, has received the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category for 2025. Developed in Istanbul and set to be exhibited in June 2025, Gala stands out for its poetic inspiration drawn from the rose-a symbol of love, balance, and high frequency-transformed into a stylized porcelain bud. The design also draws on Jean-Paul Sartre's existential philosophy, particularly the concepts of the "other" and the "gaze," encouraging viewers to perceive the piece from multiple perspectives.

The Gala collection features a translucent Audrey Blackman porcelain body, meticulously crafted through a process of plaster mold casting, biscuit firing, wet sanding, glazing, and final firing. Its organic, bud-like form presents a different visual experience from every angle and is complemented by natural brass fittings and a hidden LED bulb, which emits a soft, ambient glow. The lighting fixture's modular design allows for versatile use-as a pendant, wall sconce, table lamp, or decorative object-adapting seamlessly to various interior settings.

Technical innovation and artisanal craftsmanship are at the heart of Gala. The porcelain's thin, light-transmitting quality diffuses gentle illumination, while the concealed LED and brass socket ensure visual comfort and easy maintenance. The design process overcame significant challenges, including the precise shaping of the inclined bud form and the integration of brass fittings at optimal angles. Gala's adaptability, combined with its handcrafted elegance, offers designers and homeowners a unique way to infuse spaces with serenity, love, and artistic identity.
