Luigi Ippoliti and Rosita di Mizio have been honored with the Iron A' Design Award 2025 for Shake Off, a groundbreaking dog washing station designed in Tortoreto, Italy, that transforms pet bathing into a stress-free, playful experience through ergonomic and sustainable design.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shake Off, created by Luigi Ippoliti and Rosita di Mizio, is a new dog washing station that reimagines the bathing experience for both pets and their owners. Developed as part of an Executive Course in Pet Design at POLI.design, the project addresses the emotional and psychological needs of dogs, who often find traditional washing stressful. By emphasizing comfort, play, and positive interaction, Shake Off turns washing into a moment of connection and enjoyment rather than an obligation.
The design stands out for its zoo anthropological approach, focusing on the human-animal bond and integrating research from veterinary behaviorists and trainers. Shake Off features a fully glass, adjustable sidewall for visual interaction, steps for independent dog access, and interactive water jets that dogs can activate with their paws. These elements foster curiosity, trust, and engagement, making the experience less stressful and more playful for the animal. The operator can easily adjust water temperature for comfort, and a built-in drying system and storage drawer for towels add to the station's convenience.
Constructed from r-PETG, a recycled polyester reinforced with 30% fiberglass, Shake Off is lightweight, durable, and highly UV-resistant, ensuring longevity even with outdoor use. The station is produced using LFAM 3D printing technology, which allows for on-site manufacturing, reducing transportation needs and environmental impact. Designed for small to medium-sized dogs, Shake Off's ergonomic dimensions and thoughtful features reflect extensive field research and a commitment to animal welfare. Its recognition with the Iron A' Design Award underscores its innovation, practicality, and positive contribution to the pet care industry.
