Woohyun Roh and the design team have been honored with the Iron A' Design Award 2025 for Solic, an incense product inspired by sunsets and designed to offer busy professionals a safe, convenient, and calming way to unwind at home or in the office. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Solic, the latest creation from Woohyun Roh and his team, has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Products category for 2025. Designed specifically for office workers and busy professionals, Solic addresses the growing need for accessible relaxation in fast-paced daily life. Drawing inspiration from the tranquil hues of a sunset, the product aims to deliver a brief but meaningful respite at the end of a demanding day.
The unique design of Solic sets it apart from traditional incense products. When activated, the top of the device descends, safely igniting the incense inside while preventing ash from scattering and minimizing fire risks. The product also features integrated mood lighting, which emits a gentle glow that enhances the ambiance of any space without the need for main lighting. Its sleek form and lighting-inspired appearance allow it to blend seamlessly with modern interiors, making it both a functional and aesthetic addition to the home or office.
Solic's construction combines anodized metal for durability, injection-molded plastic for a smooth and lightweight exterior, and acrylic components that diffuse soft light. The device measures 230mm x 165mm x 230mm and includes auto ignition, a preset timer, and an easy-to-clean ash collection system. After extensive research and experimentation, the team overcame significant technical challenges to develop a safe and reliable electronic ignition mechanism, ensuring Solic's practicality and safety for everyday use. The project, which began in September 2024 and concluded in December 2024, was showcased on the Hongik University Blueprint online platform, reflecting the team's commitment to innovative design solutions for modern living.
