ARGENTINA -- /INNOVATION/newswire -- Sep 10, 2024

Argentine designer Ignacio Martínez Todeschini's Orbita luminaire, inspired by celestial cycles and crafted with patented Italian materials, has been awarded the prestigious Golden A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award 2025 for its groundbreaking fusion of tactile interaction, infinite rotation, and minimalist design, redefining personalized lighting experiences worldwide.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Orbita: A Revolutionary Minimalist Luminaire Merging Celestial Inspiration with Advanced Material Technology

Orbita, the latest creation by Buenos Aires-based designer Ignacio Martínez Todeschini, has been recognized with the esteemed Golden A' Design Award in Lighting Products and Fixtures for 2025. Drawing inspiration from orbital movements and the sun's circadian rhythm, Orbita offers users the ability to customize their lighting environment throughout the day, enhancing both well-being and functionality. The project, which began in December 2023 and concluded in February 2025, was realized in Argentina using advanced Italian materials and precision engineering, and will be showcased at SaloneSatellite during Milan Design Week.

What sets Orbita apart is its patented ultra-matte material, which features heat-activated scratch self-regeneration, fingerprint resistance, and an ultra-soft touch. The luminaire's infinite rotation system allows for seamless manual adjustment, inviting users to interact directly with the fixture to direct and personalize indirect illumination. Over 25 custom-designed components, including CNC-machined rings and steam-bent screens, are meticulously crafted from production leftovers and assembled by hand, ensuring both sustainability and exceptional quality.

Orbita's design process involved extensive research into astronomy, material science, and lighting technology, resulting in a product that merges minimalist aesthetics with high-tech innovation. Despite challenges in sourcing and adapting the advanced FENIX material within Argentina's limited market, the team succeeded in creating a luminaire that stands as a testament to Argentine ingenuity and international collaboration. The award-winning design not only advances the art and science of lighting but also establishes a new standard for tactile, user-centered illumination in contemporary spaces.
