Ding Sing by Feng Peng is a Taiwan culture-inspired spicy hot pot restaurant located in Shenzhen, China, offering a unique dining experience that blends tradition and innovation.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Feng Peng's Ding Sing is a celebration of Taiwan's unique local culture, blending the traditions of Chinese north and South cultures to create a distinct and inclusive atmosphere. The restaurant draws inspiration from Taiwan's "small indeed lucky" culture, incorporating elements such as Kongming Lantern-shaped lamps and a storefront that reflects Taiwan's marine culture.
The restaurant's design features a gate made of pure copper, curved surfaces, and old frosted glass chandeliers, adding to the ambiance and texture of the space. The 421 square meter area is divided into two floors, with the first floor covering 296 square meters and the partition area spanning 125 square meters.
The design also incorporates interactive elements such as a window for purchasing freshly made milk tea, a second-floor dining area, and a central private room designed as a large Kongming Lantern, offering various dining experiences for guests.
The design of Ding Sing presented several challenges, including the presence of slanting steel columns and an arc-shaped roof, which affected the spatial layout. However, the design team found creative solutions, drawing inspiration from the custom of flying sky lanterns in Taiwan to integrate the columns into the private room and incorporate sky lantern-shaped chandeliers to illuminate the space.
Feng Peng, the designer behind Ding Sing, has been in the design industry for 18 years, with a passion for creating comprehensive design concepts that reflect the true nature of the project. His work has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel, and Tourism category in 2022, honoring his outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically captures the essence of Taiwan's culture.
