360 Design Budapest, presented by Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency Ltd., showcased a unique phygital exhibition aiming to highlight the Hungarian and regional design scene, both offline and online, from 8th October 2020.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
360 Design Budapest, organized by Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency Ltd., aimed to showcase the present state of the Hungarian design industry alongside the role of design in everyday lives. The physical exhibition featured a custom-made space hosting selected designer objects in three main areas. The event displayed the works of twenty Hungarian and four international contemporary designers, emphasizing the world-class nature of Central European design.
Last October, 360 Design Budapest opened its virtual and physical doors to visitors, offering a unique phygital experience. This approach allowed the event to successfully deliver a regional-scale exhibition, accessible both offline and online, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
For the digital platform, the organizers ensured that visitors could have a real-life experience, mirroring the physical exhibition. The digital space represents an extension of the physical space, providing a similar experience for online visitors.
The physical exhibition took place in a custom-made space of 265 m2, divided into five main sections. The digital exhibition space was designed as an exact mirror image of the physical space, offering a seamless transition between the two platforms.
Participant engagement was a key focus, with the physical exhibition attracting visitors to maximum capacity over three days. Additionally, the digital platform allowed the exhibition to be accessed by a wider audience, extending the duration of the event and reaching individuals who may have been unable to attend the physical exhibition due to the pandemic.
The preparations for 360 Design Budapest began in early May 2020, with the physical and digital exhibition opening on 8th October 2020 in Budapest. While the physical exhibition lasted for three days, the digital platform remains accessible to this day, ensuring continued access for interested individuals.
The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency faced significant challenges in delivering a regional-scale event amidst the pandemic. The phygital approach allowed the event to reach a broad audience, emphasizing the fusion of physical and digital spaces to create a new and innovative experience.
