Christine Xiang Unveils the Cenear Bench, Encouraging Open Communication with Innovative Design
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned designer Christine Xiang introduces the Cenear Bench, drawing inspiration from the graceful curves and rich heritage of tea gardens. Blending modern Chinese furniture concepts with a tribute to historical culture, the bench offers a unique, modern seating option that evokes the past. The innovative design encourages conversation among users, featuring two differently shaped cushions attached to the wooden frame, providing options for individualized seating preferences. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor settings, the Cenear Bench is versatile across various environments.
The final prototype, crafted from black walnut using a CNC machine for shaping the curvature, showcases a seamless blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The upholstery, consisting of foam cushions sewn with Microsuede fabric, adds a touch of elegance and comfort to the bench. With dimensions of 203cm in width, 86cm in depth, and 84cm in height, the Cenear Bench offers a spacious yet intimate seating experience.
Beginning its journey in September 2018 in Pasadena, California, the Cenear Bench underwent several design changes before being finalized in 2023. The project culminated in the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence. The bench's ability to facilitate casual conversation while offering a distinctive and inviting user experience sets it apart from other seating options, making it a standout addition to contemporary spaces.
