Kištra by Vavra Introduces Gumbek, a Didactic Toy for Children's Development
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kištra by Vavra introduces Gumbek, a modular plush toy inspired by the rich history of toy production. Designed to stimulate creativity and enhance motor skills, Gumbeki are a modern take on traditional toys, aiming to revive the family tradition from a designer's aspect. The project started in 2016 in Zagreb, Croatia, and was exhibited in numerous exhibits, festivals, and fairs, such as Zagreb Design Week and the Exhibition of Croatian Design 1718.
Gumbeki are handmade, consisting of seven parts made of colorful materials with different textures, providing a good stimulus for the development of sensory integration. The arrangement of different shapes helps develop imagination, as the toy can be put together in various ways, fostering creativity in children.
Lea Vavra, the industrial designer behind Kištra, aimed to create a soft toy that children could emotionally connect with, while also learning through play. This didactic plush toy encourages the development of fine motor skills, as children assemble their own toy by connecting the parts together. The pieces are attached by threading buttons through buttonholes, providing an engaging and educational play experience.
KiÅ¡tra by Vavra is a small design company from Zagreb, Croatia, specializing in the design and production of interactive, handmade soft toys for children. The company's purposeful design aims to refine fine motor skills and develop each child's creative abilities, carrying on the legacy of the first plush toy manufacturing company in Zagreb, "IgraÄke Vavra," founded by Lea's grandmother.
