Trinity: Redefining Urban Spaces with Inclusive Street Furniture

Ipek Memikoğlu's Trinity design reimagines street furniture, creating a space where adults, children, and animals can coexist harmoniously. The circular seating unit provides a shelter for animals, a play area for children, and a resting place for adults, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity in urban environments. The modular, durable, and easily cleanable design ensures sustainability and close relationships with animals, setting Trinity apart from traditional street furniture.

The innovative use of concrete and iron mesh offers durability and reproducibility, while the design's circular organization allows for both social interaction and the maintenance of social distance. The unique properties of Trinity enable people to sit, animals to find shelter, and children to engage in playful activities, creating a multifunctional and inclusive urban space.

Trinity's technical specifications, including the dimensions of the seating units and water bowls for animals, highlight the meticulous attention to detail in the design process. The project, which originated in Ankara, Turkey, was showcased at the Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards exhibition, where it garnered well-deserved recognition for its forward-thinking approach.
