Briiv - Redefining Air Purification with Sustainable Design

Briiv, a groundbreaking air purifier designed by Ryan Ward, is revolutionizing the industry with its sustainable approach to air purification. Inspired by the need for a more eco-friendly solution, Briiv incorporates bioplastics and renewable materials to deliver clean air that's better for the planet, while also being energy-efficient. Its innovative filter system, utilizing moss, coconut husk, and a silk-carbon matrix, sets a new standard for air purifiers, providing effective filtration while being compostable. Briiv's smart home connectivity further enhances its usability and environmental impact.

Standing at 220mm high and 160mm wide, Briiv weighs just 900g, making it a compact and lightweight addition to any home or office environment. The use of Vibers elephant-grass based bio-plastic polymer for the base and filter housing showcases the innovative technology behind Briiv's realization.

Briiv can be operated through a smartphone app or via a touchless interface on the unit, offering convenient control and monitoring of air purification. The touchless interface was a response to the need for reduced cross-contamination, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project began in late 2018, with development continuing into 2019, and the product was launched on Kickstarter in April 2019. Briiv has since gained traction on Indiegogo and is attracting wholesale orders from around the world.

The design team, including James Whitfield and Sean Sykes, overcame significant challenges in developing Briiv, particularly in optimizing the filter media to match the effectiveness of traditional air purifiers while maintaining airflow and clean air delivery rates.

Briiv has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in Sustainable Products, Projects, and Green Design, affirming its status as a trendsetting creation that significantly impacts the world with its exceptional sustainability and performance.
