Andriy Mohyla's Duoo Desk combines the principles of duality and minimalism to create a functional and visually striking workspace. Designed in Cherkasy, Ukraine in 2017, the desk reflects the fusion of Japanese culture and modern design, offering a balance of form and function for contemporary spaces.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Andriy Mohyla's Duoo Desk draws inspiration from the duality of a pair of Daisho Samurai swords, featuring a small shelf above a large work surface. The desk's thin horizontal lines and angled metal legs create a powerful visual image, while the natural veneer tabletop exudes warmth and character. The desk's functionality is enhanced by a hidden tray for connecting devices and a raised shelf for convenient storage of stationery, maintaining a clean and uncluttered workspace.
The desk, part of the Duoo furniture collection, was presented at furniture exhibitions in Ukraine and Maison et Objet in Paris. The collection is a testament to Mohyla's dedication to creating modern furniture that seamlessly combines functionality and emotionality, reflecting the image of a strong-willed warrior standing proudly with his legs wide apart.
Despite facing technical challenges during the design process, Mohyla successfully achieved stability and parallelism in the desk's construction, ensuring a harmonious balance of materials and practicality. The Duoo Desk is a testament to Mohyla's mission to create functional and accessible design, earning the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding expertise and innovation.
