Miguel Arruda's Nuvem project, a decorative lighting solution, draws inspiration from a 70s sculpture and was developed in Pomezia, Italy from November 2017 to March 2019, presented at the Milan Fair in April 2019.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Miguel Arruda's Nuvem design is a handcrafted lamp made of hexagonal modules that can be infinitely configured, inspired by a 70s sculpture exploring the female form. The lamp is made of opalflex, a recyclable material composed of technopolymer and glass crystals, and has unique properties allowing for versatile placement of the light source.
The artisan technique involves cold cutting and hand-folding millimetre-thin technopolymer sheets to create the three-dimensional elements. The hexagonal modules are connected to form customizable compositions adaptable to any space, with the ability to create dramatic shadows and plays of light.
The Nuvem design was awarded the Golden A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and trendsetting qualities that significantly impact the world of design and technology.
