Xavier Zhagui Unveils Plan Ta, a Unique Modular Vase Design
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Xavier Zhagui introduces Plan Ta, a revolutionary modular vase design that combines the concept of building blocks with the functionality of a planter. Inspired by a childhood fascination with natural plants and building blocks, Zhagui utilized 3D printing and space-filling polyhedrons to create a system of magnetic planter building blocks. The modular properties of Plan Ta offer space-saving advantages and a versatile solution for housing different types of indoor plants.
The Plan Ta vases are 3D printed with a textured finish using PETG material for water resistance. The design features neodymium sphere magnets as connection points, allowing the vases to connect magnetically and stack in various configurations. The small and large vase sizes cater to different plant types, with the large vase incorporating an interior and exterior shell for easy maintenance and drainage collection. Additionally, a wall mount design enables users to tile the vases onto vertical surfaces.
The project, initiated in July 2018 in Las Vegas, is now in the final stages of development for production. Zhagui's research and experimentation with space-filling polyhedrons led to the selection of the rhombic dodecahedron as the most efficient form for the design. The use of PETG material addresses the drainage issues encountered during the material selection process, emphasizing the designer's commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices.
