Introducing Ariu, an innovative armchair merging eco-design with adaptability, promoting waste reduction and recyclability.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ariu draws inspiration from the spherical shapes of water atoms, symbolizing the relationship between humans and natural resources, with a focus on Puglia's water issues. It embodies ecodesign principles, offering adaptability and versatility.
Ariu's disassemblable structure simplifies disposal, with the ottoman serving as the primary structural component. It weighs a mere 12kg, minimizing fuel impact during transport and contributing to reduced reliance on fossil fuels.
The tensioning system, starting from the ottoman, creates controlled chaos, enhancing the ergonomic characteristics of the furniture. The covering is sourced from controlled yarns, with minimal use of harmful chemicals during production.
Ariu can be used as an armchair or for fitness purposes, as it is composed of spheres and can be disassembled. The project started in 2021 and was exhibited as a prototype in various international events.
The design is deeply rooted in the intricate structure of water atoms, emphasizing sustainability and harmony with the environment. The challenge involved engineering a user-friendly system for sphere removal and optimizing the material realization process for the cover.
Ariu is an armchair that merges eco-design with adaptability, revolutionizing sustainable furniture with its easily disassemblable structure, promoting waste reduction and recyclability. Its core, an ottoman, links the spheres with tensioning bands, blending form and function.
