Leoleo Kids Multifunction Play Tower: A Hyper Functional and Playful Piece of Furniture

Dan Popa, the creative mind behind the Leoleo Kids Multifunction Play Tower, designed this revolutionary piece of furniture to address the challenges of modern parenting. The multifunctional chair aims to inspire parents in setting diverse educational activities for kids, reduce the need for multiple physical objects, and keep children away from screens, fostering physical reality and adult-child interaction.

Leoleo is a hyper functional and playful piece of furniture designed for a small child's care, education, skills development, and entertainment. It consists of parts that can be recombined in many ways, obtaining different functionalities such as an observation tower, activity desk, slide/ramp, blackboard, rocking chair, and high chair with a feeding table. The use of mainly 15mm thick Birch plywood, cut with CNC technology, ensures durability and versatility.

The project started in January 2015 in Bucharest, Romania, and was exhibited in the 2017 Romanian Design Award event, where it received recognition from Dezeen magazine. Leoleo Kids Multifunction Play Tower was awarded Bronze in A' Baby, Kids, and Children's Products Design Award in 2021, acknowledging its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements.

Research for the design was conducted through observation, trials, and continuous modifications to improve functionality, safety, and ergonomics. The philosophy behind the design is to accomplish more with less, inspired by the idea of building anything out of just a few parts, promoting minimal material usage and ideal proportions. Leoleo aims to become a system, allowing users to recombine its parts in ways its creator never imagined, promoting endless possibilities and evolution.

Dan Popa, the mastermind behind Leea Toys, is a visionary entrepreneur with a passion for child development and practical solutions. His background in medicine and keen interest in child development led him to create innovative products like Leoleo, designed with solid child development knowledge, playfulness, and creativity, setting new standards in multifunctionality.
