FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Acorny: Redefining Educational Products with Physical Computing and Coding

SOYOUNG LEE & JAEYOUNG MYUNG are proud to introduce Acorny, a groundbreaking physical computing educational product designed to teach computational thinking and coding to young children. The product aims to address the challenges in selecting appropriate tools and practices for early childhood education in computational thinking. Acorny offers a unique blend of physical toy and coding app, providing an intuitive and engaging platform for children to explore computational concepts.

The Acorny physical kit, inspired by computer processing flow, allows beginners to grasp computational thinking concepts effortlessly. The accompanying application offers various programming lessons, recommendations, and challenges, making it an ideal tool to introduce young children to coding activities with immense educational potential.

Acorny is equipped with cutting-edge physical computing technologies, utilizing a range of sensors and modules to create an interactive and educational experience. The product's design and realization process involved the use of advanced tools such as Rhinoceros, Keyshot, Adobe Illustrator, and 3D printing technology.

Acorny's dimensions and specifications are meticulously crafted to ensure a seamless user experience, with modules such as the Hub module, Logic module, and Input & Output modules offering diverse functionalities. The product's interaction design is tailored to provide an intuitive and perceptive coding experience for young children, fostering a friendly and accessible learning environment.

The project, which commenced in January 2022 in Los Angeles and concluded in February 2022, was driven by the growing need to equip young children with essential computational skills. The design team conducted extensive research to understand the challenges in existing educational technology and developed Acorny as a solution to introduce core coding concepts to young learners.

Despite facing challenges in the prototyping phase, the team remains committed to leveraging 3D printing technology to enhance the usability and practicality of Acorny. The ultimate goal is to create a product that not only educates but also inspires young minds to explore the world of coding and computational thinking.

SOYOUNG LEE & JAEYOUNG MYUNG's Acorny has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Education, Teaching Aid, and Training Content Design category in 2022, underscoring its innovative and practical approach to revolutionizing educational products.
