Fresnillo plc Harassment Prevention Protocol

Tekio, a design team from Mexico City, has unveiled a pioneering Harassment Prevention Strategy named "Welfare Is Gold" for Fresnillo plc, one of the largest mining groups in Mexico. The strategy, aimed at preventing harassment in the workplace, involves a comprehensive cultural transformation impacting up to 8000 National Union Employees and contractors directly and over 19,000 employees indirectly.

The strategy includes the integration of Welfare Commissions, an Attention Protocol, an intensive Communication Program, and a web app to deliver personalized protocols. The approach involved a participatory process to understand the complexity of the issue and develop a supportive infrastructure before launching a communication campaign.

Printed and digital materials, including infographics, animated short videos, posters, and memes, were produced to convey meaningful messages. Additionally, a web app facilitated the co-creation of personalized protocols downloadable for each of the more than 55 contractor companies, promoting community engagement.

Since the launch of the harassment protocol in August 2020, trust in the process has grown, leading to positive resolutions for victims. The strategy aims to foster a workplace culture free of harassment through a process based on confidentiality, efficiency, justice, and accessibility.

The Fresnillo plc Harassment Prevention Protocol was awarded Bronze in the A' Meta, Strategic and Service Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious approach to addressing workplace harassment.
