Sebastiaan Van beest unveils the Minimal Techno arm chair, a prototype constructed from recycled solid steel and repurposed bamboo hardwood flooring, inspired by Japanese minimalism and negative space.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sebastiaan Van beest, a visionary designer from Surrey, Canada, introduces the Minimal Techno arm chair, a stunning prototype inspired by Japanese minimalism and the use of negative space. Constructed from recycled solid steel and repurposed bamboo hardwood flooring, this arm chair features a matte black coating with brushed brass screws, exuding a delicate yet robust feel. The design offers remarkable flexibility and comfort, making it perfect for extended periods of sitting.
Van beest's commitment to sustainability is evident in the chair's construction, with all materials except the screws being recycled. The chair's compact design and use of only three materials make it easy to reproduce, while efforts are underway to source recycled brass for a fully sustainable product. Additionally, plans are in place to optimize the chair's shipping efficiency for future production.
Measuring H24" W27" L30", the arm chair is designed to make a statement with its use of negative space, creating a strong presence while consuming minimal space. Despite its delicate appearance, the chair's construction is incredibly strong, tested to hold weights exceeding 250lbs.
Van beest's journey to create the Minimal Techno arm chair began in Vancouver, Canada, in March 2021, culminating in its completion on March 30th, 2021. Overcoming the challenge of balancing comfort, delicacy, and strength with minimal materials, the designer achieved a remarkable fusion of form and function.
Sebastiaan Van beest's dedication to minimalism and the use of negative space is reflected in all his designs, including the award-winning Minimal Techno arm chair. With a strong belief that "less is more," Van beest's creations make a significant impact while embracing sustainability and minimalist aesthetics.
