Alvix: A Transformable Cylinder-shaped Drone with Smart Safety Features

Yu-Ling Lien, a designer from New Taipei City, Taiwan, has unveiled Alvix, a groundbreaking multifunctional drone designed to enhance safety and excitement for extreme sports enthusiasts. Inspired by the growing outdoor activity trend and the increasing demand for advanced recording technology, Alvix redefines the traditional drone concept to provide a unique solution for adventurers.

Alvix stands out with its unique cylinder-shaped design, offering both easy storage for users and robust protection for the machinery. The drone is equipped with an alarm system that activates when the smartwatch detects the user in danger, significantly improving rescue efficiency. Additionally, Alvix features a compact size of w100mm x d100mm x h105mm, making it highly portable for extreme sports enthusiasts.

Designed with the user's safety in mind, Alvix is built to ease the burden of carrying heavy equipment during high-risk activities. Its transformable body and smart safety features make it an indispensable companion for adventurers, providing peace of mind and enhanced safety during outdoor pursuits. The concept was developed in June 2017 in Taiwan, following in-depth research into outdoor activity trends and safety concerns.

Recognizing its innovative design and contribution to safety in extreme sports, Alvix was honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Sporting Goods, Fitness, and Recreation Equipment category in 2020. This prestigious accolade acknowledges Alvix as an outstanding and creatively ingenious design that incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology, ultimately contributing to improvements in the quality of life for outdoor enthusiasts.
