Splashy: Capturing the Beauty of Liquid Flows

Jessica Zhengjia Hu's Splashy cup and saucer sets are a testament to the beauty of liquid flows, capturing the mesmerizing moments when coffee and milk collide. The project, which began in February 2022 and completed in May 2022 in Shenzhen, China, aims to reflect the elegance of irregular splashes and ripples created by the collision of two opposite liquids.

Utilizing 3D modeling software and dynamic analysis, Jessica simulated the fluid movements to create the unique shapes of the cups and saucers. The smooth porcelain material not only embodies minimalist aesthetics but also provides a sense of cleanliness and ease.

The sets can be used as multifunctional tableware, with the saucers doubling as dessert or fruit plates. The unique splash shape with a ripple base adds an artistic touch to the dining experience, making the food more visually appealing and hygienic.

Overcoming the challenge of defining the product shapes, Jessica used 3D dynamic simulation software to preserve the randomness of liquid states, resulting in a natural and authentic appearance. The project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its practical and innovative design that meets professional and industrial requirements.

Designer Jessica Hu's passion for art and life shines through in Splashy, a design that not only enhances utility but also brings joy and beauty to daily life.
