Introducing Iris, a small table lamp with indirect lighting, designed by Max Kampa, from Curitiba/Brazil, and awarded Silver in A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award in 2020.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Max Kampa's Iris is a small table lamp with a focus on functionality and minimalist features. Its unique lighting system allows for the control of light intensity and regulation of the light beam directed upwards. The product also features a diaphragm system that enables user interaction, allowing manual control of the upper light beam.
The final prototype of Iris was achieved after a series of tests and models, utilizing distinct production processes and materials. The lamp consists of metal components made of carbon steel and stainless steel, manufactured through laser cutting and lathe processes. Its dome is made of ABS plastic through 3D printing and manual finishing, along with acrylic components.
Measuring 143mm in width, 143mm in depth, and 250mm in height, Iris is designed to provide an innovative user experience. The lamp's unique undocking system facilitates easy maintenance and reveals aesthetically appealing details that are otherwise hidden when the luminaire is mounted.
Max Kampa's Iris project commenced in March 2019 and concluded in July 2019 in Curitiba/Brazil. The design process involved extensive research to create an interaction between the user and the product, resulting in a simple yet innovative shape that highlights the diaphragm mechanism.
Despite the creative and technical challenges faced during production, Iris stands as a testament to Kampa's dedication to creating a product that not only fulfills its technical role but also generates an innovative user experience. The lamp's unique control mechanism breaks pre-existing concepts in the realm of lighting products, offering a creative and interactive approach to lighting control.
