Chia-Ching Chou's Space Center Transforms Library Entrance into an Immersive Learning Experience for Children
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chia-Ching Chou's Space Center at the National Library of Public Information in Taichung, Taiwan, has revolutionized the way children engage with libraries since 2017. This innovative project, a collaboration between the National Library of Public Information and National Taipei University of Technology Department of Interaction Design, aims to create smart libraries that offer immersive information experiences and innovative services.
The Space Center is a unique learning game that combines interactive gameplay with educational content, designed to teach children about classification numbers and encourage independent book exploration. Utilizing hardware such as CCD cameras, projectors, and directional speakers, along with game development tools like Unity and Photoshop, the Space Center creates an engaging environment where children can launch number-rockets to find classification planets and uncover the library's resources.
Through extensive research and overcoming technical challenges, Chia-Ching Chou has successfully created a gamified learning space that not only entertains but also educates. The project has received accolades, including the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its innovative approach to education and interactive design.
Chia-Ching Chou, a passionate designer with a background in computer science and information engineering, has demonstrated her commitment to creating user-centered experiences that enhance learning and engagement. Her dedication to finding creative solutions and improving the world through design is evident in the success of the Space Center at the National Library of Public Information.
