Discover the innovative Plit chair, a dynamic seating solution designed to adaptively support the shifting poses and weight of the user, inspired by Barnett Newman's Onement series of paintings.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kutay Guler introduces the Plit chair, a revolutionary seating solution that challenges the traditional concept of static seating. Inspired by the dynamic nature of sitting, the chair's form is split on the vertical axis, creating two halves that can react to the user independently and asymmetrically. This unique design emphasizes independence while celebrating unity and totality, offering a new perspective on seating dynamics.
Unlike typical static seats, the Plit chair's split seating surface allows for independent reactions to the user's shifting poses, providing better support and comfort. The base, composed of two curving strips, adds a touch of fluidity and leniency to the design, creating a visually striking yet functional piece.
Constructed using a combination of machined and cold-formed aluminum, the Plit chair features a polished and black satin finish for a laminated effect. The seat is overmolded Polypropylene Copolymer around a machined aluminum internal frame, offering both structural integrity and a smooth matte finish with slight texturing. The chair's unique design and materials allow it to respond to the shifting body weight independently and asymmetrically, addressing the dynamic nature of sitting.
