Ahmad Mirjani Unveils the Archie Chair, a Fusion of Tradition and Modernity
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ahmad Mirjani, a student in industrial design, has unveiled the Archie Chair, a unique piece inspired by Islamic architecture and the history of wire chairs. The chair, with its distinctive form and intricate geometric patterns, is a fusion of tradition and modernity, offering a fresh perspective on furniture design. The project, which began in January 2021 in Isfahan, Iran, was completed in April 2021.
The Archie Chair is a testament to Mirjani's dedication to enriching his work by incorporating new identities and concepts, often inspired by cultural roots. The chair's design process was driven by the study of wire chairs' history and the exploration of lines inspired by Islamic architecture, particularly arches and Girih patterns. The result is a chair that impresses with its unique form and conveys a sense of lightness through the use of negative space.
Constructed from welded steel wire, the Archie Chair's components are meticulously crafted without the use of heat, showcasing the designer's commitment to traditional craftsmanship. The chair's adaptability for mass customization and resistance to moisture and rust make it suitable for various spaces, including outdoor use. With dimensions of 520mm in length, 470mm in width, and 800mm in height, the chair offers both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.
