Device of Perception: A Unique Cultural Center in Mexico City
Yuting Zhang's Device of Perception draws inspiration from Aldo Rossi's Small Scientific Theatre, exploring the relationship between architecture and image, and the extension of the stage of the auditorium into the Zarco Plaza.
The cultural center, constructed using reinforced concrete and Corten steel, stands at an intersection node in Mexico City, offering a narrative spiral path with various scenery frames to understand the city.
The center features a sunken entrance plaza, a large spiral public gallery, and two embedded auditoriums, providing spaces for lectures, talks, debates, conferences, and film screenings against the urban backdrop.
