Renowned designer Igor Dydykin presents Domik Ptashki, a birdhouse designed to provide a safe and natural habitat for birds while promoting human-nature interaction.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Igor Dydykin's Domik Ptashki is a unique birdhouse design that aims to provide a safe and natural habitat for birds while fostering human-nature interaction. Inspired by the positive effects of birds on mental health and the environment, this project started in February 2019 and was completed in December 2019 in Tolyatti, Russia.
The birdhouse's round shape minimizes the impact of rain, snow, and wind, while its low center of gravity allows for secure placement on trees without additional fastening equipment. The inlet hole is reinforced to protect birds from predators, and the collapsible design allows for easy removal and cleaning at the end of each season.
Through extensive research and design thinking principles, the project team developed a concept that goes beyond the traditional birdhouse, focusing on creating an ideal nesting place for birds in nature. The design and production technology were refined through outdoor testing, resulting in a durable and eco-friendly birdhouse made of wood and coated with natural protective layers.
Recognized for its innovative and practical approach, Domik Ptashki was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020, acknowledging its contribution to a better world through well-designed and industry-compliant creations.
