Yang Pu and Ding Wen Nic Bao Introduce Digital Taihu
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yang Pu and Ding Wen Nic Bao have unveiled "Digital Taihu," a groundbreaking fusion of traditional Chinese culture and cutting-edge 3D printing technology. This innovative furniture design draws inspiration from the natural form of the traditional Chinese stone "Taihu Stone" and utilizes bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization algorithms to create a unique and sustainable piece.
The furniture's design process involved a bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization method to simulate the natural form of Taihu stone, followed by construction using liquid photosensitive resin material through integrated 3D printing. The resulting furniture boasts dimensions of 915mm in length, 1125mm in width, and 1052mm in height, showcasing the perfect blend of tradition and modernity.
Yang Pu and Ding Wen Nic Bao's Digital Taihu project began in July 2022 and concluded in September 2022, with the location set in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. The design team's extensive research focused on the digital expression of traditional Chinese cultures, furniture structure optimization, and the integration of 3D printing technology to achieve sustainability goals. This groundbreaking approach has the potential to revolutionize the future of the digital design industry.
Dr. Yang Pu, a Ph.D. researcher and lecturer, and Dr. Nic Dingwen Bao, an award-winning architect and lecturer, have successfully combined their expertise to create Digital Taihu, earning the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2023. This recognition further solidifies the design's impact and contribution to the industry, emphasizing its practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial standards.
