Introducing Fu Xiu, a unique communal facility inspired by oriental classical dances and operas, designed by Lai Jiebin, Shu Qianyun, and Wang Tingting. This innovative project integrates tradition and modernity, creating an aesthetic style of urbanization while considering cultural attributes.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fu Xiu, a remarkable communal facility, draws inspiration from the "fluttering sleeves" in oriental classical dances and operas. Its design, resembling ripples, embodies an ethereal nature, showcasing the love for human life and nature. The integration of tradition and modernity opens up new design ideas for modern public facilities, emphasizing an aesthetic urbanization style while preserving cultural attributes.
Constructed using stainless steel and artificial turf, Fu Xiu spans 19m in length, 7m in width, and stands at a height of 2.9m. The dynamic effect of light and shadow enhances its shape, creating a visually captivating experience that resonates emotionally with the viewers.
Equipped with an intelligent operating system, Fu Xiu offers real-time bus information and features amenities such as mobile wireless charging seats and a shared bicycle system. This innovative communal facility is set to be completed in September 2022, in Chongqing, China.
The design of Fu Xiu posed unique challenges, as it sought to extend the dynamic and static relationship between the points and lines of the artistic form with lines. By incorporating the emotional attributes of the "line and plane," the design successfully expresses human's love for nature in a modern urban setting.
Recognized for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design, Fu Xiu was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Street and City Furniture Design category in 2023. This accolade acknowledges its contribution to quality of life improvements and its role in making the world a better place.
