Hitobito, a remarkable art installation, graced the Taipei Lantern Festival in 2023, showcasing a fusion of traditional Asian crafting and architectural innovation. The structure, designed by Daisuke Nagatomo and Minnie Jan, features a weaved bamboo facade and white-painted steel pipes, symbolizing the rich cultural tapestry of Taipei City.
The installation, with its 9.8-meter width, 7.8-meter depth, and 3.5-meter height, captivated festival-goers, offering a visually stunning and immersive experience. The design, inspired by the Chinese character for a person, embodies unity and connection, creating a space for visitors to engage with captivating motion graphics projected onto the ground.
Constructed using manually bent steel pipe structures clad with 1cm bamboo dowels, Hitobito represents a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The installation's unique form and warm lighting create an enchanting ambiance, inviting visitors to explore and interact with the space.
