Lavazza Voicy: Redefining the Coffee Experience

Florian Seidl, the design manager at Lavazza's Innovation Center in Turin, has unveiled the groundbreaking Lavazza Voicy, the first espresso machine with a built-in voice assistant. This innovative coffee machine combines quality coffee with the convenience of Alexa, all in a beautifully designed and compact device.

Voicy is characterized by a seamless exterior shell with embossed Lavazza logos, a prominently placed UI incorporating the voice assistant, and a smart product design that offers a personalized coffee experience. Users can interact through the UI, voice commands, or an app to check status, consumption, order coffee, and, most importantly, make espresso.

The espresso machine's design is a result of extensive research, conceptual and formal, 3D modeling, physical mock-ups, and prototyping. The complete product development from initial concept to product launch took about 20 months, and the project was based in Turin, Italy.

Voicy's unique properties include its ability to personalize the size and temperature of coffee preparations, its easily accessible and transparent water tank, and the dishwasher-safe removable parts. The machine operates as a capsule coffee machine, offering a seamless and convenient coffee-making experience.

Florian Seidl, an Austrian designer with years of professional experience, has been recognized for his exceptional work with the Platinum A' Design Award in the Home Appliances category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges Voicy's unmatched professionalism, genius, and contribution to societal well-being, advancing the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology.
