Tong Yi Unveils Time Book, a Crystal Glass Bookend Inspired by Marquezâs Novel, Exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tong Yi, the founder of Quinsay Design, has unveiled Time Book, a crystal glass bookend inspired by Marquezâs novel. The opening of âOne Hundred Years of Solitudeâ is printed on Time Book, serving as the beginning of a great novel. The bookends are made by hand-polished crystal glass blocks, with special ink screen printed on the surface and cured at high temperature. The high density of crystal glass gives them perfect stability when in use. The minimalistic design is like a book-shaped sculpture, with the function clearly presented by its form. The text on the book uses Quinsay Parto typeface designed by Time bookâs designer, and the âMMXIXâ on the book spine is the Roman numeral writing of â2019â.
Time Book can be placed on a desk or a bookshelf, providing perfect stability due to the high density of crystal glass. The project started in April 2018 and finished in December 2018 in Hangzhou, China. It was exhibited in the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai in February 2019. The bookend was awarded the Golden A' Design Award in 2020, reflecting the designer's prodigy and wisdom in creating this marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creation.
Quinsay Design, founded in 2018 by Tong Yi, is based in Hangzhou, China. The design team draws inspiration from literature and historical events, aiming to keep their designs minimalistic in terms of function, form, and material. Quinsay Design has been at the forefront of the design industry with its experimental approach and vision in innovation, striving to design modern products by thoughtful integration with graphical and typeface design.
