Li Hui's "Spirit," a compact city electric vehicle inspired by his young son, has been awarded the Iron A' Design Award 2018 for its groundbreaking blend of safety, sustainability, and maneuverability, making urban commuting more efficient and eco-friendly in cities worldwide.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Li Hui, an experienced industrial designer from Nanjing, China, has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award for his innovative project, "Spirit," a city electric vehicle that redefines urban mobility. Inspired by the innocence and playfulness of his three-year-old son, Hui set out to create a vehicle that is as agile and charming as a "little spirit in the forest," while addressing the pressing needs of modern city life-namely, congestion, environmental impact, and safety.
The Spirit stands out as the world's smallest electric mini car, certified under the new EU standard e168/2013. Its semi-load bearing frame and birdcage structure ensure exceptional passenger safety, while the use of fully recyclable plastic materials keeps the vehicle lightweight and energy-efficient. The car's four-wheel independent suspension and disc brakes provide stability and comfort, even in dense urban traffic. Its compact dimensions (2245x1290x1570 mm) allow it to easily navigate crowded city streets and tight parking spaces, making it ideal for daily urban commuting.
Production of the Spirit leverages advanced injection molding and rapid stamping techniques, ensuring both efficiency and consistency. The vehicle's 15KW motor delivers impressive acceleration and low energy consumption, with a full-load range of 100 km on just 7 kWh. Extensive research and development, including 3D-printed prototypes and rigorous safety engineering, have resulted in a car that meets international standards and has already found success in over 30 countries, including Israel, Japan, the United States, and several European nations. The Spirit's thoughtful design, combining environmental responsibility, safety, and delightful aesthetics, has earned it high praise from both consumers and governments, setting a new benchmark for urban electric vehicles.
