Selena Chair by Morada Decor Receives International Recognition for Design Excellence and Sustainable Innovation

Morada Decor, a leading Brazilian furniture design brand, has achieved international acclaim with its Selena chair, which was awarded the prestigious Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2025. Conceived by designer Aciole Felix and realized through a collaborative team effort, Selena stands out for its seamless integration of advanced CNC machining and artisanal craftsmanship, utilizing Jequitibá wood and natural Portuguese straw to create a chair that is both visually striking and environmentally conscious.

The Selena chair's design journey began in April 2023 in Lagoa Vermelha, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and culminated in March 2024. The project was driven by a desire to explore fluid, uninterrupted surfaces and minimalist forms, resulting in a piece that appears light and monolithic yet is structurally robust. The continuous straw element, starting from the back and flowing into the seat, imparts a sense of visual lightness and transparency, while the organic contours invite tactile exploration and comfort. This innovative approach not only challenges conventional chair design but also delivers a unique sensory experience that appeals to both sight and touch.

Selena's realization required meticulous CNC programming paired with skilled handcrafting, ensuring each transition and surface was flawlessly executed. The use of water-based finishes and natural materials underscores Morada Decor's commitment to sustainability, producing furniture designed to last for generations. The Silver A' Design Award recognizes Selena's outstanding technical and artistic achievement, celebrating its ability to evoke positive emotions and transform contemporary interiors with authenticity and refinement.
